Couple celebrate 70-year marriage

ERIC Pryer visited an Ipswich cinema to watch Gone With The Wind 71 years ago while on a day’s leave from the Army and after the film, a girl caught his eye as she tripped over his injured leg.

This week, Eric, 94, took the same girl out for a cup of tea to mark their 70 years of marriage.

Eric and Winifred, 88, of Field Road, Mildenhall, celebrated their platinum anniversary by renewing their vows at Alan Road Methodist Church, Ipswich, where they were married on July 25, 1942.

Eric said: “It’s gone so quick, we have lots of happy memories.

“We have had a happy married life, if everybody had the same it would be marvolous.”

The couple have a son, daughter, four grandchildren and six great grandchildren with two more on the way.
