Councillor has heart bypass

Suffolk county councillor Trevor Beckwith underwent a triple bypass heart operation at Papworth Hospital on Wednesday.

Cllr Beckwith, who represents the Eastgate and Moreton Hall wards of Bury St Edmunds, was admitted to West Suffolk Hospital in January after suffering his second heart attack in 10 years.

Yesterday, his wife Margaret said: “He’s doing all right and will be moved back to the ward tomorrow from critical care. I’m hoping to be able to see him later.”
