Council approve new cemetery site

A new cemetery site, which could serve Brandon for 100 years, has been approved.

It is believed that the 1.59ht site will serve the burial needs of the community for 100 years.

The application had been recommended for refusal due to the potential archeological importance of the site.

An archaeological investigation will need to be carried out but members adapted a condition allowing this to be done in stages.

The applicant, Brandon Town Council, will now look to purchase the land.
