Coroner rules 10-year-old’s death an accident
A CORONER investigating the death of a 10-year-old boy in Stowmarket has judged it to be accidental.
William Warren, from Pintail Road, Stowmarket, died on October 6 last year when he was hit by a car on Navigation Approach.
Today, at an inquest at the Active Business Centre in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk Coroner Peter Dean gave a verdict of accidental death.
Mr Dean said there was no indication the driver had been going too fast or that he had been drinking and that there was very little that he could have done to avoid the collision.
William’s father Timothy Warren, 56, has campaigned for better road markings and speed signs on the road since his son’s death.
Last month new 30mph speed signs were put up on Navigation Approach after Timothy arranged a petition signed by 250 people including MP David Ruffley.
Her said after the inquest: “It is a tragic event for everybody concerned.
“They need to do something, I don’t want to see this happening again.
“We would like to express our thanks to police and emergency services involved at the time.”
