Club welcomes much-needed vehicle
A BREAKFAST and after-school club is enjoying the use of a vehicle bought two weeks ago with the help of Lottery funding.
Play leaders at the Botesdale Breakfast and After School Club (BASC), Bridget Sims-Baalham and Paula Mills, had for years used their own cars to transport children to and from the club, which is hosted in the village hall.
But now, using a £10,000 Big Lottery Fund Awards for All grant, the club has been able to invest in a people carrier to make the job easier.
Mrs Sims-Baalham said: “It will enable us to bring more children to the club so will help more parents who want to go out to work and know that their children are in a safe, caring environment with fully qualified staff.”
Others sources of funding have included £200 from Botesdale Parish Council, £500 from Cllr Charles Michell’s Mid Suffolk locality budget, £100 from Botesdale-based charity Fairstead and £1,000 that the club raised itself.
