The boiler at St Mary's Church in Mildenhall has packed up and it needs 30,000 to get a new one. They are launching an appeal.

A CHURCH is asking residents to dig deep to help them raise more than £30,000 so they can avoid a chilly winter.

The boilers at St Mary’s Church, in Mildenhall, have been read their last rites and the church now needs to replace the dying heating system.

It has turned to the community for help, with £10,000 needed for the boilers, £20,000 needed for other repairs and £1,000 a week running costs.

Congregation member Ann Leeks has written to residents to urge them to donate.

She said: “We appeal to you all in Mildenhall to give a donation however small for which we would be grateful.”

Send any contributions to Kath Whenmouth, c/o 8 Church Walk, Mildenhall, IP28 7ED. Cheques payable to St Mary’s Church (Fabric Fund).
