Charity to host fruity fund-raiser

THE Beyond the Wall charity is holding its third annual apple festival in October to raise money for disadvantaged children in Suffolk and Norfolk.

The Thornham Apple Festival takes place at Thornham Walled Garden, in Thornham Magna, on October 6.

The festival will feature a variety of fruity fun including a hot barbecue serving up pork and apple baps, cake stalls, music, freshly pressed apple juice and a small cyder bar with stock donated by Aspalls.

There will also be demonstrations by local bee keepers and a host of games and activities including a treasure hunt and water-powered rockets.

Beyond the Wall helps people with complex needs and disabilities become more independent and able to overcome the barriers they face entering mainstream education.

The charity works with young people aged 16 to 25 in Norfolk and Suffolk.

Beyond the Wall fund-raiser, Ben Hall said he hoped the event would raise a lot of money for the charity.

“It’s been a tough year for fruit and unfortunately the stocks in the walled garden are way down, however there will still be plenty of fun to be had.

“We’ve been overwhelmed by the support of the local community for this event in previous years, so we hope that we get another great turn out and that we can raise plenty of money for Beyond the Wall.”
