Charity stores thefts arrests

A couple have been arrested in connection with thefts from five Bury St Edmunds charity shops on Friday.

The pair from the Cambridge area, who were accompanied by two children, were arrested on the day the Bury Free Press reported a spate of thefts from the town’s charity shops. They have been bailed until April 2.

Julia Wigley, manager of the Cancer Research UK shop in Abbeygate street, said: “I think the story helped alert people to it. We had so many customers say they were sorry to hear it was happening.”
