Cash for hospice in memory of Fran
Frabce Emms who died from cancer
Family, friends and colleagues of Frances Emms have donated more than £3,000 for the hospice that cared for her as cancer took her life.
Fran died in September at the age of 42, after being diagnosed with an aggressive cancer in July. It was so sudden that she was only able to live in a cottage she rented in Bury St Edmunds for three days before returning to her parents’ home in Moreton Hall.
She spent three weeks at St Nicholas Hospice Care before moving to Pinford End Nursing Home in Hawstead.
At her funeral mourners donated to the hospice instead of giving flowers and raised £2,400. In addition, staff at the Newmarket lighting firm Dialight, where she worked from 1997 to 2008, raised £746.
Last Thursday her parents David and Geraldine Parsley and sister Belinda Cordy gave the £2,400 to the hospice. David said: “I don’t think you can understand how much difference one person can make in your life until they are gone. Frances impacted so many people.”
