Care home, issued with warning, is ready for a second visit
Mabbs Hall Care Home.
Three weeks after inspectors reported a failure to supply sufficient food and fluid a care home has said it welcomes a second inspection.
During an unannounced visit to Mabbs Hall Care Home, Mildenhall, inspectors from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) discovered several failings.
It was reported that one resident had sustained a serious injury as staff had received insufficient instruction on fall management and provision.
The care home, which provides care for up to 19 people, was issued with a formal warning on November 6 and given until November 26 to improve.
Tracey Mordecai, care home manager, said: “Unfortunately Mabbs Hall has suffered a high turnover of managers in the past year which had led to falling standards.
“All the required work from the inspection notices has been completed and we look forward to welcoming the CQC back to the home in order to show them the progress that has been made.”
Inspectors highlighted several concerns regarding the provision of nutrition, including a failure to monitor weight loss.
It was also reported that staff had failed to monitor a resident at risk of pressure sores, which resulted in that resident developing a serious sore.
Mabbs Hall is owned by MNS Care, managing director Sandip Ruparelia said the care home had experienced problems, due to failures in the keeping of documentation, but that after receiving the warning they had worked rapidly to rectify the situation.
He said: “There’s nothing wrong with the home, everything is running perfectly.”
Mr Ruparelia reiterated that a second visit from the CQC would be welcomed.
