Car snatch warning

POLICE are warning people not to leave valuables on show in cars after a smash and grab at a nature reserve.

A handbag was stolen on Sunday at Lackford Lakes’ car park from a silver Honda Element MPV when a window was smashed between 5.45pm and 6.30pm. Pc Simon Collins said: “It’s really important that people remove all valuable items from their vehicles. Even an empty carrier bag can be an invitation to an opportunist criminal.”

Police would like to speak to two men seen in the area. They are described as white, late 20s and between 5ft 4in and 5ft 6in tall. One had a tattoo along his right arm.

Call Pc Collins on 101, quoting crime number BR/12/361, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
