Cantering to a new camping experience
An equestrian centre has been given funding by an organisation which encourages environmentally-sensitive tourism and this has paved the way for horses and their owners to enjoy holidaying together.
The grant from the Rural Development Programme for England will fund half of the 10,000 project to install electricity points for visitors to Bardwell Manor Equestrian Centre, which will enable them to camp on site. It will also be available to campers without horses.
Visiting horses will be able to graze in their own paddock next to the camping area or stay in stables, and holidaymakers will be able to use the riding school facilities and book lessons.
Shower blocks will also be available at the site.
Sharon Dawson, who runs the centre with her husband Karl, said: "Horse riding is one of the greenest ways there are to enjoy some of the lovely countryside in this part of the world.
"The East of Enhgland Development Agency which allocates the RDPE grants has been very helpful as our application has progressed to this stage."
The funding was made available through the Brecks Local Development Strategy. The centre, which offers livery and riding tuition, has easy access to the Stanton Rides, 18 miles of linked and waymarked rides.
