Bury St Edmunds Town Council keeps Council Tax the same
Bury St Edmunds Town Council has frozen its share of Council Tax. This works out at £13.50 for a Band D property.
It was able to keep the tax unchanged after receiving a Government top up payment to counterbalance a shortfall in the precept.
The council at its meeting last Wednesday awarded a £5,000 grant to the Milkmaid Folk Arts towards a weekly music class but deferred a grant application for traffic calming at Glastonbury Road,
This request had been made by the Horringer Court Residents Association. The Town Council is writing to Suffolk County Council asking whether it would part fund the work.
The town council also decided to support the bid by Bury St Edmunds Heritage Trust for Lottery funding for refurbishment of the Guildhall.
Members also agreed to fund a fete jointly with St Edmundsbury Borouogh Council. This is in the Abbey Gardens On August 4.
