An artists impression of how St Margarets will look as a family home

Thousands of people have been married there but now they can see what it will look like as a family home.

St Margaret’s, the former Bury St Edmunds Register Office on Honey Hill, is on sale at £650,000 with planning permission to turn it into a six- bedroom family home.

Sandwiched between the Bury Magistrates’ Court and the old Suffolk County Council office building, the grade two listed 18th century semi-detached house features a seven-windowed frontage and an ornate 18th century staircase with vase-on-reel ballisters.

It is being sold through Bedfords, in Bury, with planning permission for conversion to a large residential property and with internal partitioning removed.

Though it is in the town centre, just across the Great Churchyard from St Edmundsbury Cathedral, the planning permission includes a gated entrance with parking for ‘multiple vehicles’. It also has a garden on the Raingate Street side of the property.

Plans include a kitchen and breakfast room, hobbies room and three bathrooms.
