Burglars used axe for break-ins

Police are linking two incidents in which axe-wielding burglars attempted to break in to premises.

The incidents took place from 11pm on November 26 and 4.10am the following day in Bury Road and Newtown, Thetford.

The first saw burglars break in to Thetford Sports and Social Club on Bury Road. The offenders forced entry through a fire exit before smashing a fruit machine.

The club’s management said ‘very little’ money was taken.

The second incident took place at The Chase between 3.50 am and 4am.

A man tried to force his way into the pub using an axe.

He is described as being between 5ft 10ins and 6ft 2ins and wearing a light coloured body warmer or jacket with a puffer style body and non-padded arms.
