Bob’s lucky escape as wind brings down 80ft tree
Strong winds uproot a tree, which crashed into a house on Beavor Close (off Bury Road) in Brandon.
LAST week’s winds caused havoc – as this picture shows.
Residents in Beavor Lane, Brandon, woke up last Friday to find this 80ft lime tree in an unusual position.
The tree had rested itself on the roof of an adjacent house, right above the occupant’s bedroom.
Miraculously, the man – who asked only to be named as Bob – was left unhurt other than suffering a cut finger and a graze on his forehead.
He said: “The first I was aware of it was when I woke up about 5am.
“I pulled on my ceiling light cord and the lot came down – ceiling tiles came crashing down all around me.”
The tree had actually fallen at around 5am.
Crews from Forest Heath District Council came and cleared the tree the following day.
Repairs are expected to take around two weeks.
