Beer thief avoids jail
A MAN who tried to steal beer from a brewery’s yard has avoided prison.
Richard Florian, 36, of The Vinefields, Bury St Edmunds, was caught – along with a 17-year-old accomplice – trying to snatch the beer from Greene King’s yard in Maynewater Lane.
Appearing at Bury Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, Florian pleaded guilty to theft by finding and two more charges – breach of bail and another of a breach of a suspended sentence.
However, Judge Celia Dawson did not invoke a jail term and instead added a curfew requirement to the suspended sentence.
She also gave Florian a conditional discharge for one year, fined him £50, ordered him to pay £85 in costs and a £15 victim surcharge.
