Battle of Britain anniversary to be marked in Bury St Edmunds this Sunday

A BATTLE of Britain commemoration takes place on Angel Hill in Bury St Edmunds this Sunday.

It starts at 9.30am with a short service led by the Royal British Legion at the war memorial on Angel Hill.

At 10.35am troops from RAF Honington, veterans and cadets will parade from the Abbey Gardens to St Mary’s Church, for a service at 11am.

And at 10.45am the Mayor and Civic Procession will leave the Athenaeum and process to St Mary’s Church

The event will end with a parade from the Great Churchyard, up Honey Hill, and onto Angel Hill for a march past, and salute taken by Station Commander, RAF Honington, Group Captain Andy Hall.

The Abbey Gardens will be closed until 1pm on Sunday while Angel Hill will be closed for parking from 2.30pm on Saturday, and closed to traffic on Sunday from 10am to 2.30pm.
