Bury Free Press Editor, Barry Peters, is winning his fight against the flab and has already shed more than 20lbs.

Barry has his target of losing two stone in his sights as he aims to raise at least £1,000 for the Beat It! Appeal.

He’s already 30 per cent of the way there, having raised £300 after a £120 donation from the executive directors at West Suffolk Hospital.

But the hard work is not over yet as his trainer, Helen Bye, insists he sets his sights higher and bust a gut to lose 30kg - nearly five stone.

He said: “I’m already having to consider wearing old clothes which I couldn’t get into back in late January.

“Neck size has dropped an inch, I’ve been able to tighten my belt a couple of notches and broke the nine minute barrier for 2,000 metres on the rowing machine on Friday - the first time took me 10 minutes 45 seconds.

“The regime will come to an end in December when I hope to have raised at least £1,000 and contributed to the £55,000 we need.

“I’m looking forward to a roast potato - just the one - on Christmas Day!”
