Barrister refused to hand over wallet after he was shot by robber

A BARRISTER who lives near Bury St Edmunds has told how he refused to hand over his wallet after he was shot by a robber.

Andrew Thompson, 41, was on holiday with his wife Isobel in Barbados when he was shot as they walked back to their hotel after an evening meal.

"I just saw this man waving this object towards me and he said give me your wallet. Before I had time to do anything, he fired the gun.

"Whether it was to prove it was real or frighten us I don't know.

"My reaction was anger - I just thought you're not having it, to me the bargaining was over. I just stared at him before he ran off."

The two men did escape with his wife's handbag. Mr Thompson who was shot through the calf, in the incident on June 4, expects to make a full recovery.

He has returned to work but is still using a walking stick and admits that he is still a bit 'sore.'
