IPSWICH pop-rock band Underline the Sky are taking a break from performing – to work on their debut album.

The band – singer Bronwyn Cooper, guitarists Dan Oaten and Tom Bryce and drummer James Hicks – have been playing together for four years.

Once formed, the band had immediate success, releasing a debut EP and winning national music competition Road to V 2009 with a prize of playing a set at V Festival.

A second EP, Just So You Know, followed soon after.

By the end of 2011, Underline the Sky had already performed more than 300 shows, selling well over 2,000 copies of their first two releases.

In January, the band released a third EP, Days Like These, working with producer Marc Dowding.

This weekend, the band played the popular B Natural music festival in Bildeston, rocking the crowds with a polished set.

But drummer James said the band were having a break from playing live to concentrate on creating a full 10-track debut album.

He said: “We are just spending all our time on the new album at the moment. It means a lot of time out from performing but we want to make the album amazing.

“I am learning how to record and mix myself at home at the moment.

“We usually record all that we play on the computer – it means we don’t put down and forget pieces of music we write.

“The band have already released three EPs so far, each with four tracks on – but this time we want to go the all the way and create an album.

“We are using all new material for this album.

“We have made so much different music over the years we want to combine that feeling all on the album.

“It should be new for everyone who hears it.”

James said the band were hoping to release the album in the winter.

He said: “Once the album is out we want to get back to playing as much as we can.”
