Ball hopes to inspire charity in others

The fund-raising efforts of a woman who died while competing in the London Marathon have inspired two others.

A winter ball will be held on November 10 to raise money for the Squires Effect.

The Squires Effect is a charity set up in memory of Claire Squires, who died while running in this year’s London Marathon.

The charity aims to inspire others to continue Claire’s legacy of charity work.

Organiser, Lisa Snare, 38, of Lakenheath, met Claire in 2007, while on holiday in Puerto Banus, Marbella.

Upon returning to England the two became good friends.

She said: “I soon came to realise that Claire was a very caring and thoughtful person.

“Claire was always doing things for others and raising monies for charities.”

Two charities will benefit from the fund-raising efforts of the Squires Effect, Rainbows, who help children and young people affected by life-threatening and life-limiting conditions and Cry, who raise awareness of cardiac conditions that affect the young.

The winter ball will be held at Tattersalls, Newmarket.

Tickets cost £45, which includes a champagne reception, live music, hog roast, charity raffle and CD photo album of the evening.

Ticket offers are available for group bookings.

To buy tickets contact Karl Rutterford on 07515950510 or Lisa Snare on 07734823039.
