An apprentice at an electrical firm in Woolpit has been named as the best in the East of England at a ceremony in London.

Andrew McCarron who works for Lark Technology Group won the best electrical apprentice in the awards by training charity JTL.

“I’ve learnt so much in the last four years. It’s been tough but I can’t imagine doing anything different,” he said.

Sean Stuteley, director at Lark Tecnology Group said: “Andrew has been a real asset to our company. His enthusiasm and talent has been a great benefit.

“I’m really glad he’s won – he absolutely deserves it.

JTL chief executive Denis Hird presented Andrew with a trophy and a winners cheque for £700.

“These are challenging times for the construction industry but it is a great tribute to employees in the East of England that they training up high quality young people who will provide the skills the region needs when the industry emerges from the present downturn.

“We work with more than 6,500 very talents young people nationwide, it’s a real achievemeent to have won this award.”
