Another success for growers
An award--winning couple, who have 47 gold awards under their belts for their pelargoniums grown in Mildenhall, have taken a prestigious prize for their stand of plants at last year's Hampton Court Palace Flower Show.
Brian and Pearl Sulman received the Anthony Huxley Trophy, awarded to the best stand selected from a number of winners from all the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) shows and chosen by a selected panel of judges.
The trophy is in memory of the late Anthony Huxley, a vice-president of the RHS.
The couple are retiring from horticulture and their Kingsway business is now on the market.#
They met at horticultural college in 1963 and took on Pearl's father's business in 1974. The late Arthur Woollard began his market garden growing supplies for RAF Mildenhall during the war.
As well as the golds, they have 56 silver gilt awards, 55 silver and 10 bronzes as well as many others.
Brian, who is chairman of Mildenhall Parish Council, said: "We'll still be involved in the local community but have decided it is time to retire.
