Air rifle stolen in burglary in Rattlesden as Suffolk Police appeal for information following a spate of break-ins

An air rifle was among the items stolen after burglars ransacked a home in Stowmarket Road, in Rattlesden.

It happened between 8.30am and 12pm yesterday (11).

The burglary was among three in Mid Suffolk all on Tuesday.

Jewellery, watches including a mans silver Omega Seamaster watch with an engraving on the clasp, an amount of cash and a silver iPod touch were stolen from a home in The Street, Brundish between 8.30am and 5pm.

And a red Radley purse, red handbag and two laptops, were stolen in a burglary at Wickham Road, Thwaite between 11.45am and 2pm.

Police have are advising people to fit burglar alarms or timer switches to operate radios and lights if you are not back from work until after dark or away for a few days.

They also advise people to make sure their home is kept secure at all times: that windows and doors are locked, and suggest installing security lights outside.

Suffolk Police also suggest installing a safe – visit www.securedbydesign.com for police approved safes.

You can also download free tracking applications/ software to smart phones, laptops and tablets from your app store.

These can help to track your device if it is stolen. Your device can then provide a map or current location and in some cases can be locked remotely.

Suffolk Police is currently running a campaign ‘Operation Drawbridge’, which aims to reduce the number of burglaries by encouraging homeowners to take simple measures to protect their house.

It also aims to increase the amount of crimes solved by calling upon members of the public to provide police with crucial information to help bring those responsible to justice.
