AMERICAN air-bases have marked the 11th anniversary of 9/11.
RAF Lakenheath held a service with a fly-over to honour those who died in 2001 when two planes flew into the twin towers in New York, while RAF Mildenhall lowered all flags on the base to half-mast.
Speaking at RAF Lakenheath’s service, Col Kyle Robinson, 48th Fighter Wing commander, said: “We’re here to honour the nearly 3,000 people who gave their lives on 9/11 and also the people who paid the ultimate sacrifice.
“The world changed that day. A lot of things are now different and it’s kind of hard to imagine what life used to be like.”
