A COLLEGE trip to the NEC has resulted in 18-year-old Abigail Largent being shortlisted for a nationwide competition.

Abigail, from Walsham-le-Willows, was approached by Teen Queen UK at the NEC exhibition and asked if she would like to enter the competition.

They took pictures of her and after an online vote she is now among the 90 finalists who will go forward to another online vote at the end of the month.

It was open to 13 to 19 year olds and combines modelling ambitions with a social conscience and care for the environment

Abigail said: “I didn’t expect it at all because so many went into it.

“There were 750 girls who had their picture taken just that day.”

She is studying travel and tourism at West Suffolk College and hopes to become airline cabin crew, but she could get to travel much sooner.

The competition also includes a Charity Queen who is the entrant who raises the most money for the contest’s chosen charity the Mad Foundation which helps people in the poorest countries.

The Charity Queen will go to Ghana to present a cheque.
