Abbeycroft men bare abs for charity calendar

A TOPLESS men’s calendar featuring Abbeycroft Leisure Centre employees from Bury St Edmunds and Haverhill will go on sale on Monday to raise funds for charity.

The calendar, called The Abs of Abbeycroft, will be sold for £10 and features the men in various poses in the gym, pool, and on track.

Abbeycroft hopes calendar sales will raise £1,000 for St Nicholas Hospice Care, adding to the £1,000 it raised for the charity through this year’s Towergate Accumulator Challenge.

Cat Rayson, from Abbeycroft Leisure, said: “This year our fund-raising for St Nicholas Hospice Care is all about the boys. Last year the girls raised more than £3,000 with sponsored fancy dress events and personal challenges. This year it’s the boys turn.

“We hope people will enjoy our tribute to the Calendar Girls Abbeycroft-style. We really admire the work that St Nicholas Hospice Care provides for our local community and this is our way of saying thanks on behalf of staff and customers.”

Abby Mayes, from the hospice, said: “The calendar is a great idea and I can’t wait to see the finished product.”

The images of Bury men include Matt Hickey, Anthony Cullen, Adam Prescott, Joe Watson, Carl Deeks, Dan Biddulph, David Gillespie, Alex Trask, Gareth Thomas and Dan Reynolds.
