WEST End stars, a famous children’s author and two chart topping bands are among a bustling line up at The Apex over the next two months.

Ruthie Henshall, star of The West End and Broadway, will be performing at the venue in Bury St Edmunds on October 26.

She has recently appeared in Guys and Dolls in London and is bringing out a book called So You Want To Be In Musicals.

The following evening will see 90s band Dodgy take to the stage.

They are best known for their 1996 top four hit Good Enough, In a Room which reached number 12 the same year, and Staying Out for the Summer which was released in 1994.

Their appearance coincides with the release of their first album in 11 years.

Stand Upright In A Cool Place is Dodgy’s fifth album.

Turin Brakes, who had a top five hit with Painkiller in 2002, will be playing at The Apex on October 12 as part of a tour.

And popular children’s author Jacqueline Wilson will be talking both about her career and her new book Emerald Star, followed by a book signing, at The Apex on October 10.

If that is not enough there will be a chance to catch Bury’s own Voice Squad with a mega musical on September 2, and a concert for Each (East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices) by the Bury Concert Band and Aquarius Singers being held on October 6.

There is also the Fat Cat Comedy Club on October 14.

Spiers and Boden, who are two-time winners of BBC Radio Two’s Folk Award, will be at The Apex on September 30, while there will be a chance to hear broadcaster and author Joan Bakewell interview well- known sculptor Anthony Gormley on September 7, and a tribute to the kings including Frank Sinatra, Matt Monro on September 16.

Sandra Robinson, marketing coordinator at The Apex, said: “We are pleased to be attracting big names to the town but we are also delighted to be showcasing home grown talent.”

She said there were lots of other acts coming to The Apex and people should visit
