A rock-and-roll car show

MORE than 3,000 excited car enthusiasts visited Stonham Barns at the weekend for its annual Classic Car Show.

This year’s show, on Sunday, had a rock and roll theme and for the first time included a vintage market selling a wide variety of clothing and accessories of the 1950s and 60s.

The main show ring played host to 1950s rockabilly band The Obscuritones, who entertained the crowds with a rock and roll repertoire and live jive dancers.

But the real stars of the show were the 600 classic cars on display which included a stunning 1939 Lincoln Tourer, which won best of show, and a dazzling bright pink Cadillac.

Gary Newland, events manager, said: “It went really well and turned out to be one of our best events of the year.

“The weather helped enormously.

“I think the only grumbles we had about the weather was that it had got a bit dusty on the track leading in – the classic car collectors don’t like a speck of dust on their vehicles.

“But it’s better that than rain and mud.

“We must have had 600 classic cars on display starting from the 1920s all the way up to modern-day vehicles.

“Some of the cars on display were just outstanding.

“One of the stars was this incredible pink Cadillac, it really turned some heads.”
