500 mental health jobs could be axed
About 500 jobs could be axed as part of cost cutting measures by the county’s mental health trust.
The Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust has drawn up plans to cut about £40 million from its budget over the next four years.
Bosses say they are ‘confident’ that staff reductions can be made without compulsary redundancies as there are currently 250 vacancies and a 14 per cent turn over every year.
Meanwhile, the trust also plans to reduce its 325 in patient beds by about 20 per cent.
The trust is looking to develop more services in the community to provide alternatives to more expensive hospital care.
