Lakenheath’s eldest resident celebrated her 105th birthday with a party at Lakenheath Village Home on Wednesday.
Linda Rumsby can recall sheltering in ditches as Zeppelins, headed for Great Yarmouth, flew over her home during World War One.
She has spent her 105 years in Norfolk and Suffolk and has an extended family including two sons and stretching to great, great, great grandchildren.
Linda used to work on a farm for one shilling an hour and enjoyed gardening.
She puts surpassing her centenary down to her diet.
“I think it was my mothers home cooking growing up. A lot of poultry.” She said.
Linda lived independently in Sheringham, Norfolk, until the age of 100 since when she has lived in Lakenheath.
