An event was held at the Royal British Legion in Lakenheath on Saturday to offer residents the chance to help decide its future purpose.

The club was taken over by the People’s Project, run by Lakenheath Peace Memorial Hall Committee, following its successful bid to buy the building in the High Street earlier this summer.

A survey was launched at the event asking the village’s residents what they thought the hall should be used for.

Chairman of Lakenheath Peace Memorial Hall Annette Brooks said: “We had a great turnout so it was a very successful day.

“The village seemed to be whole-heartedly in favour of us keeping the building and turning it into a village hub again, with lots of activites for everyone.

Annette hopes the building will be used by existing and new residents of all ages in the village.

“Everybody was quite excited about it, which was lovely to see,” she said.
