A GROUP of women who believe in having a true zest for life staged a Jubilee celebration in Bardwell on Friday.

The Bardwell Batty Bees, members of the Red Hat Society, staged a lunch with Maypole dancing to celebrate the Queen’s Jubilee.

And for three, Roz Lloyd, Viv Bewley and Janet Smith, 2012 is also their 60th celebration.

The Bardwell chapter is the Suffolk founding chapter of the Red Hat Society, which bases its ethos on the poem Warnings by Jenny Joseph and whose memebrs wear purple with red hats.

Roz, Viv and Janet organised the day which started with coffee in the Six Bells, where they meet every third Friday, before they paraded to the Tithe Barn for lunch and Maypole dancing.

The chapter is hosting this year’s national convention at Center Parcs in October.
