A Rougham woman is hoping to receive a fund-raising boost – with the help of friends.

In an effort to ‘give something back’ to a charity that helped her family through tougher times, Emma Garwood signed up to a 2014 Grand Canyon trek.

To boost her fund-raising, tomorrow she and 18 friends plan to complete a sponsored walk that will take them on a 15-mile route from The Black Lion, in Long Melford, to The Ravenwood Hotel, in Rougham.

Craig Jarvis, who owns both hotels, has agreed to provide the group with a reduced price breakfast and a welcome tea.

“I have a feeling I’m going to be very, very tired by the end of it,” said a concerned but determined Emma.

The walk is one of a series of events the mother-of-three has organised to help achieve her fund-raising target of £4,000.

Last year her twin daughters, Megan and Gracie, were given the all-clear from leukaemia but wish charity Have a Heart, which granted them a visit to Lapland in 2011, has never been forgotten.
