The John Peel Centre, in Stowmarket, is marking the 10th anniversary of the BBC Radio 1 DJ’s death by inviting one his favourite artists to perform.

On Sunday, the centre plays hosts to the talents of Scottish legend Dick Gaughan, a singer-songwriter John described as ‘one of the great voices of our time’.

The gig comes two weeks after the centre was visited by Jarvis Cocker, who was recording interviews for a Radio 4 piece marking the anniversary.

He spoke to John’s widow, Sheila Ravenscroft, as well as the centre’s chairman Tom Barker.

Director Andrew Stringer said: “It is wonderful to add to all the interest surrounding John’s musical interests at the moment with a concert from an artist that John greatly admired.”

The event will also feature Seattle based Jim Page.
