Sunday, October 13 – ROSS LARDNER: (Fludyers Arms, Felixstowe, 7.30pm, free. http:\\Jazzeast.vpweb.co.uk) Exciting guitarist whose credits include everyone from Julian Siegel to the Bay City Rollers, with George Grant (alto sax), Rob Palmer (bass) and Russ Morgan (drums). JOANNA EDEN (The Fox, Bury, 7.15pm, free) Sophisticated singer-songwriter-pianist with a distinctive approach to classy pop. ANDY BOWIE QUARTET (Tram Shed, Cambridge, 8.30pm, free) Tenor saxophone-playing philosophy professor leads a quartet presenting a connoisseur’s choice from the modern jazz repertoire.

Tuesday, October 15 – VAL WISEMAN: (The Cottage, Thunder Lane, Norwich, 8.30pm, £10. www.Norwichjazzclub.co.uk) Voted Best Singer in the 2008 UK Jazz Awards, Val specialises in classic jazz vocal styles and has worked with the Humphrey Lyttelton, Alex Welsh and Kenny Baker bands; with Simon Brown (piano), Ivars Galenieks (bass) and Brian McAllister (drums).
Wednesday, October 16 – BARRY TYLER’S ORIGINAL DIXIELAND JAZZ BAND: (Lakeside, Lyng, 7pm, £10. Details: www.lakeside-jazz.com) A goodtime celebration of Louis, Bix, Fats et al, with Barry Tyler (drums), Richard Church (trumpet), Bob Alcoe (trombone), Karl Wirrman (clarinet/alto sax), Bill Gyford (banjo/guitar) and Paul Coulton (bass).
