Criminal charges could still be brought as a result of an investigation into the deaths of four West Suffolk workers.

Brothers Dan and Tom Hazelton, from Stanton, and friends Adam Taylor, from Rickinghall, and Peter ‘PJ’ Johnson, from Stanton, lost their lives after a steel cage collapsed on them at an engineering site in Great Yarmouth in January 2011.

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) is continuing to investigate the accident and as such an inquest into the men’s deaths has not yet taken place.

An HSE spokesman said: “HSE is continuing to look at the evidence in this matter to decide whether criminal proceedings are appropriate and will announce its decision in due course.

“In the meantime, it is assisting the coroner in her preparation for the inquest.”

A pre-inquest hearing was held on Tuesday and three more have been scheduled for December and January.
