PLANS are moving forward for more than £100,000 of improvements to two play areas in Stowmarket.
The town council wants to revamp the play facilities at Glemsford Road and Chilton Fields.
Already it has consulted with residents on the developments and is asking play area companies to come up with designs, which will be presented to the public.
It has identified funders for the projects, which will cost about £75,000 for Chilton and £30,000 for Glemsford. It follows £40,000 of improvements to the play area at the Recreation Ground last year.
Daniel Harvey, public services manager, said: “The town council owns six play areas which were in need of improving. The quality of equipment is perhaps below what people would expect. We’ve done some consultation about which play areas people would most like us to improve. We’ve done the Recreation Ground and Chilton Fields was the second most popular. Glemsford is the one that’s likely to happen first. The other three play areas – Lindsey Way, Melford Road and Hill Rise – are not forgotten about.”
