Some 550 people were invited to a pre-launch event.

Edward Parker, managing director, said: “We have a waiting list for this development.

“It is an age 55-plus restricted development built around a Victorian style courtyard so it is all about creating a community feel with shared open space.”

It features 14 houses and two apartments – all with either two or three double bedrooms.

““Eye is a popular market town among the over 55s. We have done our research.

“Ideally this will be the first of many of this type of development,” said Mr Parker.

“We are looking for suitable sites in good market towns in walking distance of the town centre.

“Looking at the buzz that this first development has created, I am sure this is going to be popular.”

Prices for the Eye development are likely to be from about £180,000 to £275,000.
