Toddler group Horringer Hedgehogs was named one of the best in the area in the UK’s biggest parenting competition.

The group set up by mum Lisa Hasler, which runs at Horringer community centre, was voted the ‘Mums choice award West Suffolk’, in the prestigious Netmums competition.

The Hedgehogs group is open to children aged up to five years.

It has been running for five years every Tuesday and Thursday from 9.30-11.30am.

Mums, dads and carers have praised Horringer Hedgehogs calling it ‘the highlight of our week.’

Parents also told how the group was special to them for its caring helpers, great range of activities for children and for putting a smile on the face of everyone who attends.’

More than a million parents were eligible to take part in the voting to select the best-run toddler groups around the country.

Lisa said: “We are delighted to have won. It’s an award for everyone involved in Horringer Hedgehogs. 
“We would like to thank everyone who voted and special thanks to the Horringer W.I ladies who volunteer their time each week.

“We try hard to make the group the best it can be and are so pleased to have been recognised.”

Netmums founder Siobhan Freegard said: “We had thousands of mums voting in the area – but Lisa’s group stood out.

“Parents love the homely atmosphere and look forward to going every week.

“It’s people like Lisa and her team that that bring local communities together.”

The youngest member of Hedgehogs is just three weeks old and had cuddles with a W.I helper, Peggy Lines, aged 83.

The group celebrated with a party on Thursday (18) and was joined by special guests, including Ickworth hotel’s crèche manager, health visitors and Papillon Beauty, with a mummy and grandma pampering session.
