Homeless man asks Bury court to lock him up

Homeless David Dixey told Bury St Edmunds Magistrates that he wanted to be locked up and fed.

The 42-year-old got his wish on Monday after admitting to a weekend crime spree in Thetford while on bail for other offences.

Dixey pleaded guilty to four thefts of personal property from cars and an attempted theft from a car on May 15 and 16, stealing cosmetics to the value of £64.88 from Savers in Thetford on May 16, assault by beating in Bury St Edmunds on the same day and damage to a cell in Bury on May 17.

He was remanded in custody until June 4.
