A horse-mad teenager from Needham Market has been crowned Miss Galaxy Suffolk.
Holly Bland, 19, will travel to Lancashire in February to represent the county at the finals of the national beauty pageant.
Holly, who is currently studying for a level three diploma in equine studies at the College of West Anglia, saidshe was shocked when she disovered she had won the competition.
“I am usually the person who has odd socks on or up to my knees in mud with my horses so it was a big surprise to win,” she said.
Holly said she was spurred on to enter the competiton after losing two of her close relatives in a short period of time. She said: “I lost my uncle to cancer last February and my granddad in August.
“It just makes you realise how short life is and to take every opportunity you can.
“The competition has been really fun to enter and I’m looking forward to representing Suffolk and meeting some new people.”
Although the Miss Galaxy Suffolk competition was judged online, Holly will have to get up on stage for the Miss Galaxy England pageant.
February’s competition will be judged in three categories – fashionwear, swimwear and evening wear.
Holly said she was very proud to be representing the county she loves.
“It is also quite a big responsibility,” she said.
“It is a beautiful place with lots of friendly faces and I am very pleased that I have been given the opportunity to represent that.”
The winner of Miss Galaxy England will then travel to the USA to compete against women from all over the world.
