THE RSPB is asking for your help in trying to work out if unusual weather has bamboozled our feathered friends.
The Big Garden Birdwatch takes place this weekend and the bird watchdog wants homeowners to see if the climate extremes we have seen in recent months have had an effect on bird numbers.
Aggie Rothon, from the RSPB, said: “The last few months have been anything but predictable so it will be interesting to see what kinds of birds people are seeing this weekend, and in what numbers.
“With plenty of natural food still about some of the usual suspects might be a bit elusive, but heavy rain and strong winds could send other surprises our way.”
The RSPB is asking residents to pick one hour this weekend to record the birds they see and feed their results back.
Half a million people a year contribute to the survey and the results go towards the society keeping an eye on the avian population.
