A MOTHER of two who has lost more than five and a half stone is undertaking a coast to coast walk for charity.

Helen Aitchison, 39, of Bury St Edmunds will be walking Wainwright’s coast to coast walk from St Bees Head on the Cumbrian coast to Robin Hoods Bay in Whitby, North Yorkshire, for rehabilitation centre Focus 12.

The 192-mile walk will take Helen and her walking partner Alec Hawkes 12 days to complete.

Helen said: “I think it’s going to be an amazing personal challenge. The first four days will be the best due to the beautiful scenery but they will also be the most challenging as it’s the hilliest part of the walk.

“I’m looking forward to crossing the finish line in Whitby where my husband and two sons will be waiting for me and having a glass of something fizzy.”

Helen, who lost 22kg in preparation for a sky dive last May has gone on to lose a further 8kg while preparing for the walk, thanks to help from trainer Mark Nichol.

Helen and Alec have already raised £700 and hope this will increase to £1,000 by the time they set off on March 29.
