HELEN Aust did not have to travel far to take her winning wildlife photograph.

Her picture Hare in the Grass was taken in fields near her home in Stonham Aspal and won the top prize in the East of England Co-operative Society’s East Anglian Wildlife Calendar Contest.

It will feature on the cover of the 2012 calendar sold at the Co-op’s shops, pharmacies, opticians and petrol stations, with £1 for each sold going to the Wildlife Trusts for Suffolk, Norfolk and Essex.

Helen said: “I was delighted to be one of the winners, especially with a photograph taken so close to home, and I was thrilled to find I’d won the overall prize.”

The other winning photographers are: Geoff King, Carol Harvey, Rob Reeve, Simon Spencer, Colin White, Ruth Tyrrell, Susan Norrington, Trevor Street, Liz Pitman, Frank Berry, and Stephen Ball.

Suffolk Wildlife Trust community fundraising manger Michael Strand said: “The trust’s are delighted the Co-op has chosen to support our work and highlight the wonderful wildlife in our region.”
