GOLFERS have raised £1,500 to help West Suffolk Hospital’s special care baby unit.

The Lark Valley Golf Society raised the money during at five special golf days over a year. Members made donations while raffles and competitions raised more.

Club captain Mick Bull said: “We’re a charitable club so try to raise around £500 a year for good causes. I was really pleased with the total we made for SCBU as it was much higher than I had initially hoped.”

The club’s captain for the year chooses the charity to benefit and Mike said: “I know several people whose children have been cared for at the SCBU so thought it was a worthwhile cause.”

Patricia Davis, the hospital’s head of midwifery, said: “The SCBU offers essential care for babies who are born prematurely or need other help. This money will help us to continue that work by providing more specialist equipment.”
