WEST Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust has been shortlisted for a prestigious national award recognising the quality of care it provides to its patients.
The trust is one of five finalists in the quality of care category in the Top Hospital Wards 2012, which are run by independent healthcare intelligence company CHKS.
West Suffolk won the title last year.
The award is based on good performance against key criteria including the length of time patients stay in hospital, the rate of emergency readmissions and whether the patients’ care pathway proceeded as originally planned.
Waiting times and mortality rates are also analysed as part of the assessment.
Stephen Graves, chief executive at West Suffolk Hospital, said: “It is a testament to our staff and shows that we are continuing to deliver high quality, safe and effective care for our patients.”
The awards ceremony is in London on May 1.
