Hospital upgrade speeds things up

ONE of the most up-to-date software systems for use in hospitals has been installed at West Suffolk Hospital to help improve efficiency in clinics.

The new PACS – picture and communication system – means that consultants will have instant access to x-rays, scans or ultrasound images.

Previously, they would have had to manually look up images going back more than four months.

The system was initially installed as part of a new breast imaging upgrade earlier this year.

It will also mean savings of £30,000 a year which would have otherwise been spent on computer discs and chemicals and other materials needed to produce hard copies.
