Maternity services at West Suffolk Hospital have been rated as excellent in a survey of hospitals carried out by a healthcare organisation which examines standards of care.
The hospital is among 15 shortlisted by CHKS as part of its Top Hospitals awards.
This examined caesarian rates, length of stay, complications, re admissions and injuries.
The organisation also looked at three indicators from the Care Quality Commission’s 2013 maternity survey .
The 15 trusts will now submit more evidence and a shortlist of three will be announced and invited to an awards ceremony in May.
Patricia Davis, head of midwivery and general manager at the hospital, said: “ We are really pleased that our maternity services have been shortlisted for this prestigious award.
“It is a testament to our staff who work hard to provide the best possible care to the women and babies in our care.”
